This week I found many people and organizations to follow focusing on many different types of animals. However I was especially drawn towards the orgs that promoted bird wellness and activism. I learned that a current issue endangering many birds today is Avian Influenza, as many different sources such as Birds Canada and the Audubon Society have written many articles in the past few months. The infection can also spread to mammals such as otters. I also learned that Hurricane Sandy both created and destroyed habitats for different birds.
I was able to find many personalities from our text, however I had a fun time going through the recommended lists beneath them to find communities of people studying animal behavior. I am not a native Twitter user (I grew up more in the Instagram era), However I have found the site to be pretty intuitive. I had been following the recent news surrounding the recent changes to the platform both in ownership and functionality, and it was interesting to put what I had heard into context by learning more about the platform.
