This week on Twitter I reflected on what I learned during my advocacy project, including some of my favorite expects from my writing. I gave an overview of the issue of pesticide use and its effects on bird populations, and then referenced a study proving that pesticides are the reason of population decline over the last few decades. I also mentioned that without change, our current businesses and political advancements will become obsolete as the issue of climate change grows past the point where we can make a change. I then shared about one way to globally address the issue of pesticide effects on birds which would be to use Integrated Pest Management (IPM) which is “an effective and environmentally sensitive approach to pest management that relies on a combination of common-sense practices” according to the EPA.
I also got to reflect on what I learned in this class from how to build a website to giving strong feedback on classmates projects and being able to apply the same principles to my own writing. One of my biggest takeaways was that I learned my way around Twitter as a platform and as a network for activism and connection. I was able to connect to platforms created by experts as well as my classmates.
I checked out some of my classmates Tweets from this week and left comments. I also followed ten account related to one of my favorite topics in my field of study, machine learning.
